Honda Civic Hybrid Earns Top Honors with Two Edmunds Awards
The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has earned two impressive accolades from Edmunds: the Edmunds Best of the Best Award and the Edmunds Top Rated Car Award, marking the third time the 11th-generation Civic has been recognized with an Edmunds Top Rated honor. This achievement comes just days after the electrified version of America’s most popular compact car was also named the 2025 North American Car of the Year.
“The Honda Civic Hybrid wins the Edmunds Top Rated Best of the Best Award for its unbeatable blend of virtues,” said Edmunds Editor-in-Chief Alistair Weaver. “Powerful yet efficient, high-tech yet accessible, luxurious yet affordable—it’s the most complete car on sale today.”
The Edmunds Top Rated Awards highlight the best vehicles on the market, with winners selected through extensive testing and evaluations by the Edmunds editorial team. Among the six winners for 2025, the Honda Civic Hybrid stood out as the Best of the Best, the highest honor bestowed by Edmunds. Since the award’s inception in 2020, Honda’s Civic and Accord models have received four Top Rated Awards.
A Legacy of Excellence: The Honda Civic
The Honda Civic, the brand’s longest-running nameplate, has seen nearly 13 million units sold in the U.S. since its debut in 1973. Over the past 52 years, it has remained one of the top three best-selling passenger cars in America. The 11th-generation Civic has cemented its position as the gateway to the Honda brand, resonating strongly with Gen Z buyers, first-time new car buyers, and multicultural customers alike.
2025 Honda Civic Hybrid: Electrifying Performance
Sitting at the pinnacle of the refreshed 2025 Civic lineup, the new Civic Hybrid is available for the first time in both sedan and hatchback configurations. Combining the Civic’s signature fun-to-drive nature with Honda’s advanced two-motor hybrid system, the model is a cornerstone of Honda’s electrification strategy, with hybrid-electric variants projected to account for 40% of Civic sales.
With a combined 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque, the Civic Hybrid Sport and Sport Touring models are the most powerful non-Type R Civics ever produced. Thanks to its dual electric motors, the Civic Hybrid delivers quick, effortless acceleration alongside impressive EPA fuel economy ratings, including a 50 mpg city rating for the Sport and Sport Touring sedan models.
Honda has also refined the Civic Hybrid’s legendary driving dynamics with optimized suspension tuning, unique spring and damper calibrations, and specially designed tires, ensuring it continues to deliver class-leading ride comfort and driving enjoyment.
