2027 Honda Civic: New Trim and Hybrid Updates

The Honda Civic continues to build on its reputation as America’s Best-Selling Compact Car, and enjoyable driving with the arrival of the 2027 Honda Civic Sedan and Hatchback. For the new model year, Honda is expanding the lineup with the all-new Sport-L trim and adding its innovative S+ Shift drive mode to the Civic Sport Touring Hybrid. These updates give drivers more ways to choose the Civic that fits their lifestyle, whether they prioritize premium comfort, fuel efficiency, or a more engaging driving experience. With a starting MSRP of $24,995, the 2027 Civic continues to offer an appealing entry point into the Honda lineup.
“Civic has earned its place as America’s best-selling compact car1 by delivering the fun, efficiency and value that customers expect from Honda,” said Luis Guerra, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “With the new Civic Sport-L, we’re making some of Civic’s most desirable premium features more accessible, giving buyers another smart reason to choose Civic.”
Introducing the New Honda Civic Sport-L
One of the biggest additions for 2027 is the new Civic Sport-L, which sits between the gas-powered Sport and Sport Hybrid models. It brings several premium features previously reserved for higher-level hybrid trims to drivers who prefer a traditional gasoline powertrain. The Sport-L includes:
- Leather upholstery for an upgraded cabin experience
- Heated front seats for added comfort during colder New England mornings
- Power-adjustable front seats for a more personalized driving position
- Dual-zone automatic climate control to help the driver and front passenger choose their preferred temperatures
- Illuminated vanity mirrors and a passenger-side seatback pocket
- Silver-colored interior trim for a refined appearance
The Sport-L is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It offers an appealing balance of everyday efficiency, sporty styling, and added comfort without requiring buyers to choose a hybrid model.
A More Engaging Drive With Honda S+ Shift
For drivers who enjoy a more interactive driving experience, the 2027 Civic Sport Touring Hybrid adds Honda S+ Shift. Previously introduced in the Honda Prelude, S+ Shift is designed to simulate the feel of a performance transmission in a hybrid vehicle. The system creates virtual gear changes, including rev-matched downshifts and gear holding, while enhanced engine sounds help make acceleration feel more engaging. Drivers can use the paddle shifters to interact with the simulated shifts, adding a sportier dimension to the Civic’s hybrid powertrain. The feature is available on the Sport Touring Hybrid, in both sedan and hatchback configurations.
Efficient Performance With the Civic Hybrid
The 2027 Civic lineup continues to offer both conventional gasoline and hybrid powertrains, allowing shoppers to choose the combination that best suits their driving needs. Civic Hybrid models feature a two-motor hybrid system producing 200 total system horsepower. Along with responsive acceleration, the hybrid powertrain delivers impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy. For the 2027 Civic Sedan Hybrid, EPA estimates reach 50 mpg city, 47 mpg highway, and 49 mpg combined on the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims. The Hatchback Hybrid is rated at up to 50 mpg city, 44 mpg highway, and 47 mpg combined. Actual mileage will vary depending on driving conditions and habits.
Modern Technology and Everyday Convenience
Technology remains an important part of the 2027 Honda Civic experience. All Civic models offer Apple CarPlay® compatibility, Android Auto™ compatibility, and a range of convenient features designed to keep drivers connected. Depending on trim, available features include a larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, Google built-in, a Bose premium sound system, and wireless phone charging. These amenities make it easier to access navigation, entertainment, and everyday digital tools while on the road.
Honda Sensing® Safety and Driver-Assistive Technology
Every 2027 Honda Civic comes standard with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies.
Depending on the system, these features can help alert drivers to potential hazards or provide assistance in certain driving situations. Standard technologies include:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Pedestrian Detection
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Forward Collision Warning
- Road Departure Mitigation
Blind Spot Information with Rear Cross Traffic Alert is also standard on Sport models and above. These technologies are designed to support driver awareness and confidence, though they do not replace attentive driving. The Civic’s thoughtful interior layout, comfortable seating for five, and practical cargo space also make it well suited to commuting, running errands, and weekend trips.
